San Francisco International Fashion Film Festival Draws Designers, Filmmakers, and Fashion Enthusiasts

SAN FRANCISCO, CA, AUGUST 28, 2012 -  On Saturday evening, designers, filmmakers, and industry professionals descended upon San Francisco for the first annual San Francisco International Fashion Film Festival ( SFIFFF ). The festival showcased over 25 short fashion-related films highlighting themes of “The Body in Motion,” “The Love/Lust for Fashion,” and “The Fashion Collaborative.” The short films were submitted by filmmakers from around the world and were as diverse in subject matter and form as the Fashion Industry itself.  All films displayed a unique style, and often portrayed vivid, arresting imagery.

Guests were treated to a brief fashion show showcasing designs by Hector Manuel, Cana Klebanoff, Cari Borja, Herbert Williamson, Gail Ballesteros-Shrive, and Joseph Domingo. Of particular note was a piece by Cana Klebanoff  consisting of one garment worn by three models, and a stunning avian inspired black gown by Joseph Domingo evoking images of Natalie Portman’s character in “Black Swan.”

Laurie Wright, a board member of the San Francisco Bay Area Fashion Network ( SFBA FN ) which produced the event along with Modacine Films, felt honored to be a part of the festival.  “I had the unique perspective of being involved behind the scenes,” said Ms. Wright, “I believe it was the talents of such a collaborative group of people, from the makeup artists and models - to Joseph Domingo and Warren Difranco, which made for such a great event.”
